Time Saving Tips for Getting an International Price Quote:

  • Email is best for price quotes.  If you make an international phone call to TheTouringStore.com, sometimes at great expense, you may be disappointed when we cannot quickly provide the shipping cost.  Shipping cost varies with package size, weight and value, so we have to box your items and figure package size, weight and value.  Once we know your exact choices, we will get back to you with a detailed price quote including the shipping/insurance total.
  • Please include your shipping address when requesting a price quote, or at a minimum, your country and postal code.
  • We do not call international phone numbers (except for Canada).  We are only open from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM, Mountain Time in Colorado.  If we call international customers, we will need to be available 24 hours a day!
  • Please include your EXACT product selections including any accessory items.  For example, don’t just say “I want an Ortlieb Handlebar Bag.”  Say something like “I want an Ortlieb Ultimate 5 Plus Medium Handlebar Bag in Red with a Map Case”  If you do not want a map case or GPS case, you should say so.  If you don’t say Plus or Classic, we won’t know which you need.  If you don’t say whether or not you want a Map Case or GPS case, or size Medium or Large, we will have to reply and ask what you want.  And if you don’t tell us your color choices, we won’t be able to confirm that your items are in stock.  Providing your COMPLETE list of products and accessories will help us process your order more quickly, especially if there is a large time zone difference that causes communication delays.  Don’t worry, if you decide later to add something to your order, that’s OK!
  • Please try and narrow your choices before asking for a price quote.  If you ask for price quotes on five different combinations of items, we will have to box five different packages to get five different package dimensions and weights.  This is very time consuming.  We can easily spend hours doing such long price quotes, which adds to our cost of doing business, and affects whether or not we can ship internationally.  There aren’t enough hours in a day for us to do five multiple international price quotes, and still keep up with our US customers.  We know you may need to know different purchase options, but please try to keep such requests to a minimum.

Terms and Conditions for All International Customers:

  • We accept international payments by PayPal in US Dollars, or International Money Orders in US Dollars.  (Canada, Australia and New Zealand — see payment exceptions below.)
  • We only quote prices in US Dollars.  Exchange rates vary from one day to the next, so quoting US Dollars is the only way we can be accurate.
  • Customs Fees or Import Duties and Taxes must be paid by the recipient.  We do not know if you will have to pay import duties, or how much duties may be.
  • We will ship your package 1-2 business days after receiving payment, depending on when we receive payment, and when USPS can pick up your package.
  • We cannot write GIFT on your package, or declare inaccurate values, as we sign legal customs documents when we ship.  This is part of being an honest business.
  • For items that qualify for free shipping within the USA, we give a shipping credit based on our approximate cost to ship the items within the lower 48 US states.  This credit reduces shipping cost for our international customers.
  • Though there are a lot of conditions for international purchases, we really do welcome your order!
  • We ONLY ship International packages by USPS (United States Postal Service).  USPS has been consistently fast and reliable.   Most packages will ship by Express Mail or Priority Mail.  We quote shipping prices with insurance.
  • Express Mail is delivered to most countries in 3-6 business days.  Priority Mail is delivered to most countries in 6-10 business days.  First Class Mail is sometimes an option for small parts, but there is no delivery time estimate.  Tracking details are always provided when available.  Some extra-large packages can only ship by Priority Mail.

What is the best way to pay for international orders?

  • PayPal is the best way to pay for international purchases.  PayPal allows you to use a variety of funding sources, including debit and credit cards.  When you use PayPal, no one sees your bank or credit card numbers, and PayPal can insure your transaction. Safety is increased for international transactions.  If you do not have a PayPal account, let us know, and we can tell you how it works.  It’s easy!
  • If you pay by PayPal, please be certain your shipping address is up-to-date with PayPal.   Sometimes customers move and forget to change the shipping address associated with their PayPal account.
  • Many customers use different email addresses for communication and PayPal.  Please confirm the email address associated with your PayPal account.
  • After you have paid by PayPal, it is a good idea to confirm your shipping address by email.  This also prevents delays if PayPal fails to send us the “you have been paid” email.
  • If you wish to pay by International Money Order, let us know, and we will email you payment information.  We cannot do wire transfers.

For Customers from CANADA:

  • We can accept MasterCard, Visa or Discover by phone, as well as PayPal or International Money Order.
  • If you choose to pay by PayPal, please provide the email address associated with your PayPal account, or confirm that the email you use for communication is also your PayPal email address.
  • You may want to save time and confirm your order by email before calling to make payment.  It takes a bit of time to figure shipping costs, so if you call first we may not be able to complete your order while we are on the phone.  We may need to get back to you after we figure your shipping costs.
  • We only ship to Canada by USPS (United States Postal Service).  We do not ship by UPS or FedEx to Canada.  They are famous for charging brokerage fees and duties, and we would have a lot of angry customers!  Though you may have to pay duties regardless, USPS does not charge brokerage fees.  USPS has been consistently fast and reliable.  We quote shipping prices with insurance.
  • Our Canadian customers tell us they are sometimes required to pay import duties, and sometimes not.  There seem to be more packages crossing the border than Canadian Customs can inspect.  We don’t know how to predict if you will have to pay duties.  Customers who have paid duties have told us they paid about 15%, but you should verify that yourself.
  • We will include our contact information and payment details in our reply to your emailed request for a price quote.
  • You are welcome to call us on our toll-free number if you have questions before making a purchase.  Yes, our toll-free phone number works from Canada.  We may have to email you a price quote after we talk.
  • If you frequently travel to the USA and can pick up packages at a package pick-up business, you may be able to take advantage of our free shipping deals.  We often ship to Point Roberts, WA for instance — a great advantage for some of our Vancouver, BC customers.
  •  It is best not to email credit card information.  We cannot promise that your card information will remain secure.  If you cannot pay by phone or PayPal, and must email credit card info, please contact us first and we can arrange to receive your card info in multiple emails.
  • If you pay by PayPal, please be certain your shipping address is up-to-date with PayPal.   Sometimes customers move and forget to change the shipping address associated with their PayPal account.
  • Please provide a phone number to include with the package label.  This can sometimes help with difficult deliveries.

For Customers from AUSTRALIA and NEW ZEALAND:

  • We can accept MasterCard or Visa by phone, as well as PayPal or International Money Order.
  • We have found PayPal to be the best option for international purchases.  If you choose to pay by PayPal, please provide the email address associated with your PayPal account, or confirm that the one you use for communication is also your PayPal email address.
  • Please confirm your order by email before calling to make payment.  It takes a bit of time to figure shipping costs, so if you call first we won’t be able to complete your order while we are on the phone.  We will need to get back to you after we figure your shipping costs.
  • We will include our contact information and payment details in our reply to your emailed request for a price quote.
  • For Australia Only:   We have been told by our customers that Australia does not charge duties on US goods below $1000.00 AU.  And we are told our goods are more expensive in Australia.  So, with our excellent prices and shipping credit, our prices should be good for you.  This is second-hand info, so please verify this with your customs office if it is important to you.  Some of our Australian customers who know they will be spending more than $1000.00 AU will make two separate purchases a week or more apart, and therefore avoid paying duties.  Two separate high-value packages, shipped together and arriving in Australia at nearly the same time, may be called a “shipment,” and their combined package values may mean duties will be charged.

FAQ . . . Frequently Asked Questions and Additional Information:

  • Do we ship anywhere in the world?  We can ship to many, but not all countries.  Please email your name and address, and list the products you would like to purchase.  We will let you know if we can help you.
  • Where do we frequently ship packages?  Just in the last year we have shipped to Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Japan, Korea, The Philippines, and Hong Kong.
  • Are there places we do not ship?  We rarely ship to Europe or the UK.  Import duties and taxes are high, and currently the exchange rate is not in your favor, so with high shipping cost added, if you are in Europe or the UK, you will likely want to make your purchase locally.  We do not ship to South Africa ‒‒ too many problems with delivery.
  • We are sorry, but we only speak English.
