Great bag for everyday and easy to install!

I have been in the market for a rack bag and couldn’t find one where I live in Northern MI. I found the Ortleib to be functional and stylish. So I took my search to the internet and found Campfire Cycling a small business, but elsewhere. The package came quickly and was installed in no time. It’s great for everyday commuting, has a nice structure and is secure. The bag holds quite a bit and looks super sharp on my red Marin Nicasio! The rack I have was purchased locally and it is a Eco Bike Rack from Planet Bike.

    Perfect for very specific purpose

This was exactly the product I needed, and it's very well-made. The locking system feels extremely solid; someone could probably break it to remove it from my rack, but they'd have to try hard, and honestly it'd be easier just getting the rack off if a thief really wanted it. (I use it with the Arkel Randonneur Rack, and it fits perfectly.) I might try to avoid leaving this on the bike overnight outside, but during the daytime in high traffic areas, I have no qualms about leaving it out empty. In use, the elastic drawstring makes taking items in and out the work of seconds. My normal use is for commuting; I put a jacket and large purse (which usually contains a tablet or laptop) in it while I'm biking, and then leave the bag attached to the bike and bring my items with me when I lock up. I bought this because there were virtually no other options for rack-top bags with enough capacity (specifically, even the largest trunk bags often don't have the right dimensions for carrying a laptop) that I could remove from my rack when I wanted to, but also felt secure leaving on the bike for short periods of time. For my use-case, this is the perfect item. I also like that the straps are long enough to carry over my shoulder but short enough that they don't hang down and interfere with the wheel. Note that there are some disadvantages to this item. If you have a normal rack with additional attachment points somewhere near the rear dropouts, you're most likely better off with side panniers --- the high center of gravity affects handling when I really put a lot of weight in. It also mounts with the long axis perpendicular to the bike, meaning it's not very aerodynamic. (Then again, I bought it because I got tired of trying to stuff a laptop and jacket into a smaller, sleeker trunk bag.) But it does what it's supposed to do well, and fills a real gap in the market.
