The Tubus Logo Classic 29’er Rear Rack is one of the best pure cross-country touring rack ever made for the true world traveler!  The lower side-rails on the Logo Classic lower the center of gravity in your load, and this can improve riding stability.  Bikes with tall 29’er tires carry the rack higher than average, so the lower side-rails on the Logo design carry the panniers lower, so the center of gravity in the load is lower, and that can improve bike handling.  And with the panniers being carried on the lower side-rails, you will have easier access to the top platform area for strapping on top packs when the panniers are in place.  If  you are a smaller rider, you will appreciate the fact that the tops of the panniers are lower when they are carried on the lower side-rails, making it easier to swing your leg over the load when getting on and off the bike.

  • CARRYING CAPACITY:  The Logo Classic 29’er carrying capacity is 40kg (88 pounds).
  • HEIGHT:  Measured vertically from the center of the lower rack mounting hole to the top of the rack is 393mm, or 39.3cm (15.47 inches).  The top rail is 10mm in Diameter, so it is 383mm (15.08 inches) from the lower mounting bolt to the underside of the top platform area.  This is good to know when figuring out tire and fender clearance.
  • WEIGHT:  Approximately 22 ounces for the rack we weighed.  Add about 4.5 oz for the mounting parts (before rack stays are trimmed to length), and you have a weight of about 26.5 oz.  There will be some variation in final weight, depending on how you trim the upper rack mounting stays, and which mounting option you use.
  • RACK TOP LENGTH:  The level part of the top “platform” is about 12 inches long.  From the top front of the rack to the taillight mounting bracket is about 13 inches.
  • RACK TOP WIDTH:  About 3 3/8 inches wide at the top front of the rack, just before the curve.  About 4 inches wide just above the taillight mounting bracket.
  • TOP RAIL DIAMETER:  All Tubus Racks use 10mm diameter top rails, except for the new FAT Rack for bikes with the giant tires – it has 14mm diameter top rails.
  • The included 240mm long upper rack mounting stays will fit the majority of bikes.  If you have a very small frame, you may need the 350mm extra-long upper rack mounting stays.  The upper rack mounting stays are made of solid aluminum rods, rather than hollow steel tubes.  This allows a very tight clamping force without crushing the rods, and solid rods are easy to bend in case brake parts are in the way, or rack fittings are too far apart.
  • If you wear extra-large shoes, the Logo Classic design allows you to place your panniers farther back on the rack to help provide adequate heel clearance.
  • The Logo Classic 29’er may or may not be the rack you need for a bike with 29’er tires.  The standard size Logo Evo is often a better fit on 29’ers because forward-mounted disc brakes allow the rear rack mounting eyelets to be placed higher above the rear dropouts, which adds to the height of the rack-top over the tire.  Measure from your rack mounting eyelets to the top of the tire, and that will tell you a lot about necessary rack height.  The placement of the disc brake is also important.  Some bikes have the disc brake mounted directly above rack mounting eyelets, and that may cause the brake to interfere with fitting a Tubus rack.  Ask if you are not certain about the fit.  I may need to see photos of your bike and disc brake placement.  Wayne

  • Visit Tubus Fit Solutions for a variety of solutions for rack fitting problems, including extra-small bikes that need extra-long upper rack mounting stays to reach the seatstay fittings, mounting front racks on forks without mid-fork rack fittings, heel clearance problems with panniers due to short chainstay length, mounting racks on race bikes or bikes without rack mounting fittings, and more.
  • MAX RECOMMENDED TIRE WIDTH:  60mm (2.35 inches)  On some bikes with disc brakes that are mounted between the seatstay and chainstay, forward of the rear axle , the taller dropouts have higher than average lower mounting eyelets.  This means the rack sits higher over the wheel, so the tire passes the slanted vertical tubes lower down, and the lateral tire clearance may be up to 2.5 inches.
