If you are familiar with the Tubus Tara, you also know the Tara Big Apple. It is simply a larger version of the Tara with a slightly taller and considerably wider hoop over the tire, and more width capability for the lower connections, something necessary for the larger tires and forks on some of the new 29’er bike designs. The Tubus Tara is one of the strongest low-rider racks made. The stabilizing loop that crosses over the tire adds strength and rigidity to the system. The low-rider mounting system lower’s your pannier’s center of gravity, improving your bike’s handling. This is one of the best choices for long self-supported bicycle touring, and it has been the most popular Tubus front rack design.
NOTE: If you are running tires that only require the standard size Tara, but might be using wider tires, or are thinking about transferring your Tara to another bike with wider tires, you may want to consider the Big Apple version for more versatility.
